Initially operated as the liver disease center for 10 years, the Center of Excellence for liver diseases, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, has been officially established and started our services since April 2016 with the main goals to “prevent patients from the terminal stage of liver diseases”. We focus on creating a public awareness and medical treatment to reduce the risk of liver disease as well as enabling detection and providing medical care at the initial stage.
Associate Professor Dr. Piyawat Komolmit, head of the Center of Excellence for liver diseases and an expert in liver disease and liver transplantation for over 20 years, said that the majority of patients in the center are usually in the final stage of liver disease, which is usually complicated and difficult to treat. Therefore, liver transplant is necessary. Our center preferably focuses on improving the quality of medical treatment by providing patient-center care.
Patients and relatives are accordingly involved with the nursing team and staffs. In addition, we have developed a one-stop medical service, including coordination among departments, rapid diagnosis and prompt treatment, to improve of care for patients.
