The Thai Red Cross Emerging Infectious Diseases Clinical Center was established by the Executive Committee of the Emerging Infectious Diseases Center, which recognized the importance of new and re-emerging infectious diseases. These diseases require management and preparedness in case of an outbreak. The committee approved the center as part of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital under the Thai Red Cross Society, with the mission of providing care and treatment for patients with both new and re-emerging infectious diseases. The center also plans and seeks preventive measures to control the spread of infections. It conducts training and simulation exercises to prepare for possible outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging diseases.
Starting in 2017, the third and fourth floors of the Chongkolnee Watanawong Building were renovated for the center’s operations, which are divided into five units:
- Emerging Infectious Diseases Office (EID Office)
