Excellence Center for Gait and Motion, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital was established in 2010. One of the policy of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital is to develop an excellent and comprehensive medical service with national competitiveness. That service also serves the complex public health concerns. Presently, many patients have gait, balance and movement problems. These major public health problems included osteoarthritis, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, spasticity, patients who underwent orthopedic surgery, cerebral palsy, sports injury and athletic training etc.
In Thailand, there are few experts in this field. The physicians who interested in gait and movement analysis from various departments have been founded this excellence center. Our center offers a 3-D gait and movement analysis, balance measurement and training for comprehensive management of patients with complex problems. We also involve in an academic training and related research projects.

Excellence Center for Gait and Motion, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital is one of the operating components of the department of Rehabilitation Medicine, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. Other co-services in our department are an advanced geriatric rehabilitation clinic and sports injury rehabilitation clinic.
Services
Excellence Center for Gait and Motion provides gait and motion, kinetic and kinematic data measuring from a 3-D motion analysis with high-speed infrared cameras, wireless EMG, and a force pressure platform. It also provides an academic service (research and training) for resident, fellowship doctors, Masters and Doctoral students. The main objectives as follows:
- Provide measurement, evaluation and rehabilitation services for patients with gait, balance and movement disorders.
- Provide a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation program for patients with sports injuries by multidisciplinary experts and advanced technology.
- Academic services for post-graduate and residency training programs.
- Offer an advanced technology for researchers in the field of gait, balance and movement.
- Innovation development to improve the quality of medical care.
- Provide an academic reference in this field for other organizations.
Activities
- Gait and motion meeting and workshop “Foot and ankle biomechanics and pathology” on 7th and 28th August, 2019.
- An academic seminar “International seminar for in-house training of the visual 3-D biomechanics software” on 25th January, 2020.
- Residency teaching on gait and balance assessment 1 – 2 times a year.
- Public services for special events and public holidays.
