Department of Ceremony

Provides services for organizing merit-making ceremonies and almsgiving events and accepts donations to support various operations of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and other offices of the Thai Red Cross Society.

The Department of Ceremony, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, was founded in 1983 by Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, together with King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, with the purpose to provide opportunities for personnel and the general public to make merit and help sick monks and novices which is in accordance with the teaching of Buddha – taking care of his disciples is one way of taking care of him.

The office of The Department of Ceremony is located at Vachirayanawong Building in Chulalongkorn Hospital. The place is used for arranging the ceremony of presenting food alms to monks and accepting money donations to support the operation of Chulalongkorn Hospital and other offices in the Thai Red Cross Society.

Vision

The Department of Ceremony is the supporting unit which operates the activities in accordance with the hospital policies of accuracy, readiness and satisfaction of the clients.

Missions

  1. Organize merit-making ceremonies and food-offering to monks.
    • Organize merit-making ceremonies and food-offering to monks for patients and their relatives as well as other people from inside and outside of the Hospital.
    • Provide food-offering services for sick monks and novices.
  2. Organize religious, cultural and traditional ceremonies.
    • Organize Buddhist sermons and Buddhist teaching sessions for personnel, patients/relatives, and the general population.
    • Organize religious ceremonies and cultural events such as deity worshipping ceremonies, Kathina and Pha Pa ceremonies, congratulatory ceremony (Muthitajit), water-pouring ceremony to pay respect to and ask for blessing from persons of senior status, etc.
  3. Organize religious rites for the diseased.
  4. Organize donation campaigns to sponsor King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital’s activities.
    • Manage in-hospital donation operation at 1st Floor of Vachirayannawong Building, 1st Floor of the Administration Building, , and 1st Floor of the Pathology Building.
    • Organize donation campaigns outside the Hospital to collect donations from the Hospital’s benefactors and interested persons on various occasions such as company parties, special functions, funerals, etc.
  5. Manage dead body donation to the Hospital for King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital’s instruction, research and medical treatment.

The Department of Ceremony can be divided into 2 sections which are:

  1. Buddhist ceremony section.
  2. General service and finance section.
