Missions
The Center of Excellence in Neurogastroenterology and Motility starts operating under the management of the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University on 23 April, 2003. The Center is currently located on the 10th Floor of Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for abnormal functioning of the gastrointestinal system.
The Center’s services include breath test, esophageal manometry, 24-hout pH monitoring, antroduodenal manometry, anorectal manometry and other specialized standard tests for the diagnosis of the gastrointestinal motility disorders. It also recommends guidelines for the treatment of detected abnormality and other disorders such as fecal incontinence and chronic constipation.
At present, abnormal gastrointestinal motility conditions such as dysphagia caused by esophageal dysmotility, stomach pain and vomiting that may be caused by gastrointestinal dysmotility, chronic constipation caused by colonic inertia or anorectal dysfunction, and fecal incontinence can be tested, diagnosed, and treated at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. It is the first facility in Thailand to provide comprehensive treatment and to complete cure patients from these conditions. Apart from operating as a training and instructional center for medical doctors, the Center also accepts referrals of patients with complex problems.
Operations
The Center’s gastroenterology laboratory, located on the 10th Floor in Zone A of Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, is well equipped with modern equipment to provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with abnormal neurological system and gastrointestinal motility conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, constipation, fecal incontinence, etc. It aims to provide precise diagnostic services for appropriate treatment planning.
