Lor Chula Store was launched under King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital’s Souvenir Store Project on 1 December 2013. Its official inauguration ceremony was held on Wednesday 8 February 2017 on M floor of Bhor Por Ror Building and was presided by Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Secretary-General of the Thai Red Cross Society in the presence of members of the Hospital’s executive committee. Lor Chula Store initially started its operation with the sale of T-shirts with Lor Chula logo (presented as the Thai alphabet of ฬ) as well as shirts, T-shirts, and Polo shirts with different screen printings. These shirts were designed as souvenirs that patients and their relatives as well as the Hospital visitors could purchase for their own use or as gifts. Staff at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University buy these shirts to wear on the special occasions of their organization.

From the very first day to the present, L. Chula Shop at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, under the Thai Red Cross Society, has produced and sold over 100 designs of shirts, totaling more than 300,000 pieces. Not only shirts, but the shop also offers a variety of products to meet the needs of visitors, including patients, their families, hospital staff, and the general public. Currently available products include water glasses, thermal water bottles, tableware sets, pill organizers, hand sanitizers, face masks, and many more.

Lor Chula Store receives positive feedback from the public, creates a positive image for the Hospital, and generates profits that are as good as the profits of private stores. King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital has since then expanded the Store’s operation from the original store on the ground floor of Bhor Por Ror Building to the second store near the escalator foyer on the M Floor of the same building. Another temporary booth has also been launched for after-hours services in front of the Siam Commercial Bank on the ground floor lobby of Bhor Por Ror Building.

Obligation

Sell souvenir products to publicize the works of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and use the Store’s revenues to assist the Hospital’s impoverished patients. 

Objectives and Responsibilities

Lor Chula Store aims to sell quality products at reasonable prices that everybody can afford and make merits through their purchase. All parties involved can achieve mutual benefits under the ‘Creating Shared Value’ principle of:

1. The Hospital introduces quality products to generate pride and positive corporate image while spending the Store’s profits to support its impoverished patients. 
2. The public can purchase quality products at a price lower than the market price while making merits from such act.
3. The Store’s revenues are donated to the Hospital fund to aid the Hospital’s impoverished patients.
4. The Store creates works and generates income for retired personnel who work as staff at Lor Chula stores. 

Support Activities

1. Produce souvenir products to publicize the works of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.
2. Produce products to commemorate the Hospital’s special occasions such as King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital’s 108 Years Anniversary, the inauguration ceremony of Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building, etc.
3. Open stores to sell souvenirs during and after the Hospital’s operating hours (the After-hours Clinic operating period).
4. Use the Store’s revenues to assist the Hospital’s impoverished patients and to organize other related activities.
