Obligation

The Department of Medicine, which is a department under the Faculty of Medicine, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital,  aims to produce medical graduates and specialist physicians with inquisitive minds and high ethical standards. Create noteworthy research and academic works that can be used as a national and international reference source. It also aims to become an institution of patient care and services excellence. In addition, the Department also produces and disseminates outstanding bodies of knowledge to the general population in the forms of published research works, journal articles, and medical information multimedia through the use of various channels such as TV programs or YouTube channels. It aims to conduct continuous self-development with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for all people.

Vision

The Department of Medicine is a department under the  Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. We aim to produce moral graduates and specialists and to create valuable research and academic works to be national and international reference. We also aim to be excellent  in service and continuous self-development

Mission

1. Produce knowledgeable specialist physicians and medical science graduates with high ethical standards, inquisitive mind, and positive attitudes.
2. Produce valued research works and bodies of knowledge that are recognized at the national and international levels.
3. Provide efficient and equal internal medicine services for user satisfaction.
4. Provide academic services with the goals of knowledge sharing and dissemination at the national and international levels.
5. Create and develop instructional, research, academic service, and medical service networks at the national and international levels.
6. Endorse the preservation of arts and culture to ensure the continuity of the Thai national identity and Thai wisdom.
7. Explore and procure appropriate resources and establish a good management system to support its operations.
8. Conduct systematic self-examination and self-development on a continuing basis.
9. Create a good quality of life and work environment for the Department’s personnel.

Services

The Department of Medicine is always changing teaching methods. We make  adjustments to suit medical development, advanced research including the changing of society. The department offers support in many ways as shown below:

1. Education.

The Department of Medicine has a responsibility to develop the curriculum to meet the academic demands and support the profession. The teaching method encourages teachers to prepare their lesson efficiently and have distinct assessments. This includes recruiting  quality and qualified teachers. The department encourages teachers to participate in training and seminars in various programs to better their teaching. 

Moreover, the department supports and provides education materials to benefit students’ learning and research such at the department’s main library, Libraries in different departments, computer and installation tools to connect to the internet. It is for students to be able to research at any time, e.g.; in their room or at the department of internal medicine ward.

2. Research

The Department of Medicine supports many subjects to develop academic excellency. Therefore, the department gives priority to research and research development, it is essential to improve and extend knowledge to the community and become an academic reference nationally and internationally. We provide a service team for anyone interested, such as giving advice, statistical consulting, scholarship advice, offering research projects for funding/ moral consideration and for research and publishing research.

Currently, The Department of Medicine has an established research operation team in 3 divisions and plans to support “The medical specialist excellence center project” according to each department’s potential. 

3. Academic service

The Department of Medicine provides medical and academic services to society including knowledge extension such as seminars, academic conferences and to support lecturers in the department etc. The department publishes a journal called “Chula Ayurasas Journal”. It helps promote medical information and news including progress and new knowledge in the field of internal medicine for Alumni and hospitals all over the country. 

4. Service and Support.

The Department of Medicine has many support teams. It consists of 20 subjects and 17 units. We support management including the mission of the Faculty of medicine, The King Chulalongkorn hospital and support the readiness of the department to improve, develop and deepen knowledge professionally. We aim to become the frontrunner of internal medicine nationally and internationally, e.g. an epilepsy center, stroke center, a Parkinson center etc.
